David Kennard and Swift
Anyone who has spent twenty odd years amongst sheep and shepherds is likely to have a tale or two to tell. With the added bonus of his filmmaking escapades, the writing of a couple of books, and of course half a dozen dogs to keep him on his toes, David Kennard has plenty to talk about.
If you have read David’s books you will know that he is passionate about his job, which he sees as an integral part of the national treasure, that is North Devon’s countryside.
With the emphasis on the lighter side of life, David’s tales of sheepdog shenanigans, as well as some of the more surreal moments connected with owning a pack of canine TV stars, have been making audiences chuckle across the South West for several years.
Although David may have found the road to public speaking a slightly un-natural one, the same cannot be said for the real star of the show ‘Swift’. Swift, David’s retired sheepdog accompanies him on all his speaking engagements and loves every minute! Apart from being the star of David’s films and books, Swift’s real claim to fame is that she is the only sheepdog to have attempted a herding demonstration on the bronze sheep statue in Petersfield shopping precinct!
David and Swift are available for speaking engagements though-out the Autumn and Winter, in the spring (outside of the lambing season) and occasionally for events during the summer.
